Colonial Summer Days

Friday, February 15th, 2013

This post is a reprint of a post that originally appeared at Accokeek Foundation.

Spend your summer days on an 18th century farm! Youth of all ages will enjoy this interactive and fun, self-guided tour while they “Give Ben a Break” with his farm chores. Costumed interpreters will instruct on how, in the colonial days, a child living on a farm would grind corn for baking, card wool for clothing, search the fields for hornworms, and play colonial games. This is an excellent opportunity for youth group and camp leaders, as well as families seeking an outdoor field trip to keep young minds and bodies active this summer! Contact MaryAlice Bonomo at education@accokeek.org or call 201-283-2113 ext 28 to schedule your tour.

Plan your visit between 10 am and 1 pm; allowing approximately 1.5 hours to complete the colonial farm activities. Picnicking facilities are available for you to enjoy your brown bagged lunches.

$5 per youth; camps call for reservations
